MagCulture Live returns to New York this May
magCulture Live is returning to New York on 22nd May 2022. The highly anticipated independent magazine event is set to be the first in-real-life (IRL) event since November 2021 for the legendary London magazine store, podcast and consultancy (plus much more). The “celebration of the culture of magazines” is set to take place at Ace Hotel Brooklyn in New York, a beautiful and boutique location for the event. Originally held annually in London since 2013 and named ‘ModMag’, the event looks to drive the conversation about magazines and the print industry.

Fukt magazine features in Berlin’s Beyond Drawing exhibition
Contemporary drawing magazine Fukt features in a brand new exhibition named “Über die Zeichnung hinaus” or “Beyond Drawing”. Starting 7th May and running until 21st August, the exhibition is held at the Zentrum für Aktuelle Kunst in Berlin, Germany. Featuring over 40 artists and drawing initiatives, independent publication Fukt showcases all 20 issues of their magazine in the showcase. This is a great opportunity to view the history of the magazine, but also view (by extension) the founder’s artistic practices.

Stack to host Independent Magazine Fair in London this May
Stack has announced a brand new in-person event for May. Held at Maslow’s Mortimer House in London, UK, the Independent Magazine Fair is a free one day event to be held on the 14th May 2022. It’ll feature a series of panel discussions throughout the day, including ‘How to make a magazine’ with Delayed Gratification, The Modernist and Season Zine. Celebrating some of the best-of-British publications, this event will also feature panels such as ‘Breaking the Rules’ including A Profound Waste of Time, Paperboy and Real Review, plus ‘Publishing With Purpose’ including Azeema, It's Freezing in LA! And The Movement Movement.

Potluck zine cultivates a culture of authenticity in issue 6
Potluck zine is the brainchild of Founder and Editor Rhia Cook. Described as a, “passionate home cook and textile design graduate,” Rhia published Potluck’s first issue back in May 2020, completely on a “whim,” the website adds. Potluck is both a digital and print magazine, focused on cooking, eating and sharing food - but that’s not all.

Advanture journal issue seven finds us at a fresh, exciting point for the publication’s history. A fully re-designed look and feel, Advanture has a brand new logo, art direction, paper (offset) and even size. The content is still driven (sorry, bad pun) by the endless curiosity, execution and passion for living a nomadic lifestyle in a van.

Akin magazine opens physical store in Norwich
Independent magazine Akin opened their first physical store in the heart of Norwich in March 2022. This is a huge milestone for the magazine and the owner Alice, having only been an online webshop until now. Pics & Ink donating all revenue to Ukraine Appeal for one day only
Online magazine newsstand Pics & Ink have launched a one day only revenue donation to support Ukraine. For today only (16th March) the online magazine retailer will donate all revenues and all UK postage costs to the Ukraine Appeal. Guardians of indie mags Magazine Brighton announces store closure
Prominent independent magazine shop ‘Magazine Brighton’ is set to close in April 2022. The announcement was made via their Instagram this past week with the words, “For personal reasons, Magazine Brighton is closing. Our final trading day will be Saturday, April 2nd 2022. We know that everything changes and that this is simply another small version of that. We have loved every minute of having our shop, a huge part of which is the way you and many others have supported us both online and in-store with your enthusiasm, purchases, recommendations and your good wishes. Weird Walk releases new podcast and zine issue five
One of the most hotly talked about zines of the past few years has been Weird Walk, an adventurous publication that explores the British Isles and its folklore.
