Weird Walk releases new podcast and zine issue five
One of the most hotly talked about zines of the past few years has been Weird Walk, an adventurous publication that explores the British Isles and its folklore. INQUE magazine launches ten year print odyssey
It was in summer 2020 when INQUE Magazine landed on my radar via Kickstarter. A fresh new take on the magazine format, INQUE aims to release one issue a year for ten years and then stop. INQUE comes from the minds of Matt Willey (previous The New York Times magazine art director and current Pentagram partner) and Dan Crowe (founding editor of multiple magazines such as Port, Avaunt, Zembla and Butterfly). Kinfolk celebrates 10 years in print
“A decade ago, the very first issue of Kinfolk made its way into print,” the Kinfolk website reads. “To celebrate this milestone—our tenth anniversary—we’ve refreshed the design of the magazine and aptly turned our gaze toward one of life’s deepest and most searching subjects: the future.” The reshaped 10th anniversary issue 40 drives forward Kinfolk’s energy into a new era, from the cover inwards. Port magazine forges new path with special tenth anniversary issue
Launched on Friday, Port Magazine’s 10th anniversary covers have got designers and print readers especially excited. Designed by Pentagram’s Matt Willey – also the publication’s co-founder, Port’s 28th issue sees a completely new identity and creative direction adorn the cover. With a wide 3 column grid on the cover within which the image sits across 2, the publication’s identity has been re-envisioned for this issue. The bold typeface reading ‘Port’ spreads itself across the outer margin of the cover, allowing the “O” to act as a zero with the addition of “1” before the “R”. Fukt magazine issue 19 sees artists expand on the theme of storytelling
Established in Norway in 1999, Fukt magazine has become an indelible format for artists and illustrators to make their mark. Now based in Berlin, the magazine has since released issue 19, themed around Storytelling. Dedicated to contemporary drawing, each issue sits down with artists to discuss their everyday, process and deep dives into their world. TIME magazine publishes TIME100 Most Influential People issue
2020 saw the likes of The Weeknd, Gabrielle Union and Amy O’Sullivan amongst others adorn the front cover of TIME Magazine’s Most Influential People issue. TIME regularly finds the time to praise individuals who have made a positive impact within their field, or off the field (Marcus Rashford), in the world today. Germany’s ‘Do You Read Me?!’ bookstore opens in Helsinki
Hailing from Berlin, Germany, popular bookstore ‘Do You Read Me?!’ have set-up a new presence in Helsinki, Finland. Reported in Monocle, the press release mentions, “Located in the design-savvy Punavuori neighbourhood, the cosy shop offers a well-chosen collection of books on art, design, architecture and contemporary culture.” Last year saw Berlin’s ‘Do You Read Me?!’ celebrate their 12th birthday. The store (currently online and pick-up only) features a beautiful mix of magazines and books from a wealth of subjects – also some rare books.
