Linseed Journal announces volume two call for submissions

Linseed Journal has announced a call for submissions for volume two. The release of volume one in 2022, named ‘The Apple’, saw Linseed’s first edition in print hit the shelves. Speaking about how Linseed came to be, their website reads, “Inspired by the linseed, each print Volume is themed around a single organic material with enduring cultural significance.”

The core of Linseed is the printed journal “of cultural entanglement”, the introduction on the website reads. “Unspooling from communities, landscapes and histories; Weaving threads through place and time; Illuminating the local.” Volume two is titled ‘The Olive’ and submissions are open on their website now.

Linseed is inviting written and visual submissions across a range of formats and disciplines. Submissions can include but are not limited to, features and opinion pieces, critical writing, written-through interviews or profiles, food, travel, nature, historical writing, personal essays, legends, myths, folklore, recipes, walking guides or diaries and so much more – the full list is held in their pitching guide here.

The deadline for submissions is the 30th of January 2023 and full details are in the pitching guide on their website, which you can visit here. Overleaf will update on the launch of volume two ‘The Olive’ over on our Instagram, where you can follow for all the latest independent magazine releases.
