The 2025 San Francisco Art Book Fair kicks off today – Friday 11th July. With over 150 independent exhibitors at the show, some exhibitors have travelled from the likes of Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Nicaragua and many more. For the third year in a row, the fair is presented by the Minnesota Street Project Foundation, a non profit organisation founded in 2019 with the mission to provide “robust support infrastructure and [critical] access to the space and tools necessary for working artists, technicians, and curators to create,” as noted on their website.
SFABF is an annual multi-day exhibition and celebration of printed material from independent publishers, artists, designers, collectors, and enthusiasts from around the world. SFABF was founded in 2016 as a joint collaboration between Colpa Press, Minnesota Street Project, and Park Life.
As a completely free event from July 11th to the 13th, it’s a chance to meet independent makers, sellers and creators from around the world. Exhibitors include: Chronicle Books (CA), Datz Press (South Korea), Floss Editions (CA), Handshake (Spain), Pamplemousse Magazine (CA) and Zatara Press (VA) to name a few.
The multi-day and multi-venue event features a huge range of events within the programme. This includes ‘LEGO® Letterpress’ with Arion Press where you can design and create a print using LEGO® bricks, inks, and a tabletop letterpress. There’s also a full screening program curated by San Francisco Cinematheque, featuring a range of avant-garde productions. Furthermore, there are a range of products on sale by the event providers, giving attendees an opportunity to purchase art and merchandise.
