Elastic magazine and AFM to host Montreal event this month

Elastic magazine and A Fu*king Magazine (AFM) are set to co-host an event this month in Montreal, Canada. To be held on the 19th of February, Elastic’s editor Hillary Brenhouse and AFM’s Haley Mlotek will discuss the “how and why we make f*cking magazines — the beautiful, harebrained act of putting out print.”

The two editors will be in conversation with Arjun Basu, the host of the Magazeum podcast. Held at the Bar de Courcelle – 4685 Notre-Dame O. – the event is set to offer Elastic on sale as well as AFM issue 2. On Instagram they’ve posted: “There’ll be mags (buy a copy of Elastic, get AFM no. 2 as a gift!). A selection of titles by our contributors from Librairie Saint-Henri Books. Bao and other delicious bites by KiKid. Vinyl after with Cidoine. Bundle up and come on through. 7pm onwards.”

Elastic magazine is a “print magazine of psychedelic art and literature,” as noted on their printed cover and website material. Their debut volume – ‘the Dying issue’ arrived in March 2025 and features, as noted on their website, “all kinds of endings, all kinds of new beginnings, transitory states, portals, and processes by which the self is shattered and transformed and transcended.” Volume two, the ‘Interspecies’ issue is expected this year.

AFM (A Fu*king Magazine) is an “arts and literary magazine exploring sexuality and relationships through essays, fiction, poetry, conversations and visual art. It is published by Feeld, the dating app for the emotionally, physically, and intellectually curious.” As further noted on their website, their latest issue – ‘Mind Games’ is out now and you can find it on their website here.
