JK’s Magazine issue two aims to inspire through a diverse creative showcase
JK’s Magazine issue two has continued its mission of injecting inspiration through exhibiting the creative arts. With its release in Winter of 2022, JK’s Magazine’s Editor Jeesi Kalombo explains that his “long-term visions (have) come into reality.” He continues, “I hope the magazine gives people, who have not yet found an artistic hobby or expressed themselves through their own work, the courage to start in many different ways.”

Left Cultures issue one introduces a rich tapestry of personal stories and creativity
Left Cultures magazine holds the political left within a ‘lexicon of stories past and present.’ These stories are both personal, effecting and are upheld by a strong, positive use of illustrations throughout. Its opening note states its mission and view of the current media climate, as well as highlighting socio-political issues. There is an overarching passion for change to happen but Left Cultures also brings these issues to the forefront of its message. The individuality of the stories held inside the red covers of Left Culture speaks to the past through the author’s personal experiences.

Linseed Journal announces volume two call for submissions
Linseed Journal has announced a call for submissions for volume two. The release of volume one in 2022, named ‘The Apple’, saw Linseed’s first edition in print hit the shelves. Speaking about how Linseed came to be, their website reads, “Inspired by the linseed, each print Volume is themed around a single organic material with enduring cultural significance.”

Monthly subscription service Stack has announced a fresh event for this January. Held at Colours in Hoxton, East London, ‘How to Design a Magazine’ is a brand new event from Stack that sees two creative forces on-stage.

Bl8d magazine explores the relationship between war and storytelling
This year saw the release of Bl8d magazine, brought to creation by Bobo Agency. Volume 1 is named ‘Old Scary Tale’ and is underwritten by the war in Ukraine, started by Russia in February of 2022. Its original form was envisioned to be a fashion trend book, but in the opening pages it’s noted that this changed dramatically as war began.

The Posthumanist magazine explores the universal theme of sleep in debut issue
Launched in the September of this year, The Posthumanist is a “magazine for more-than-human art, design, technology and writing,” as is written on the cover with a small asterisk denoting the line. The multi-lingual publication is the brainchild of Editor-in-chief Anna Nolda Nagele, and features both English and German split content throughout.

Foyer magazine issue one explores the cultural threads that connect us all
This summer saw the release of ‘FOYER’ magazine’s debut issue. Created by Fiona Livingston, ‘FOYER’ aims to “examine feelings of homelessness and displacement, and the importance of family,” as noted on the back cover. This is only the peak of what is presented within the first issue, focused on the theme of connection.

Rare Mags set to host Mundial magazine event this October
Stockport’s own independent magazine shop Rare Mags will be “chatting football and print” with Mundial magazine this October. Hosted at their shop in Stockport, Manchester in the UK, the event will host the quarterly independent football magazine.
